If you've ever had a dream in your childhood, the reality of growing up may have relegated your dream to the background.

However, once in a while, someone comes along and show us that our dreams need not die. Even if there is still a flicker

of hope, the dream can still come true, even when you are 47 years old and unemployed, as Susan Boyle, who participated

in "Britain's Got Talent!", has shown.

Susan is single, lives alone with her cat named Pebbles, and has never been kissed. Her childhood dream was to be a successful

singer. When she first walked up that stage, no one but her believed in her dream. That is how we all pre-judge people all the time.

Yet it was a totally different story the moment she opened her mouth to sing. You've got to see it to believe it. Simply amazing!

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Susan Boyle is great IMO! She has had over 20 million hits on the web so far according to last nights news. The way we pre judge people is obviosly built in, and really needs to be bred out of us - though I doubt it will ever happen

Apparently YouTube were having a bandwidth issue, so I obtained a video from another source and uploaded it to my own server.
You should now be able to either Open or Download the video. I also found a free FLV player if anyone needs one.

I was very impressed by this lady. Far too often people are blinded by preconceived, stereotypical notions of beauty and can't see
true beauty when they come face to face with it. As John Keats said, in "Ode on a Grecian Urn', while corporeal beauty may be fleeting,
true beauty is eternal -

'...When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,
'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'
